Nikon Imaging Center Equipment & Services

The Nikon Imaging Center offers a variety of microscopic systems, covering a wide range of applications.

Access to microscopes is given after training so that trained users can perform their experiments independently. Only the Light sheet Ultramicroscope and the 2-photon TrimScope have to be operated by NIC staff because of their complexity.

In addition to microscopes, the NIC has analysis workstations  (running Nis-Elements, FIJI) and a server running Huygens HRM for deconvolution.

Image Analysis

Image data can be analyzed by our user in the computer room U04. Currently we are in the process of upgrading to new analysis computers, so that at the moment only two workstations are available for our users. Since we do not have a position for an image analysis specialist, we can only offer limited help with data analysis. The following programs are available:

  • NIS-Elements AR (Nikon)
  • Volocity (PerkinElmer)
  • Huygens (SVI)
  • ImageJ/Fiji (open source)
